(NOTE: The course contains FULL SIZE videos so you can see exactly what is happening.) ? From: Bauser Moretti Date: Penny Stock Castaways FREE 137 Page eBook Little known technique produces surging profits First Name: Email: We respect your email privacy ? Dear future "elite" trader, Let me tell you something I hate, and then I'll tell you something I love. I HATE seeing good people lose money in the stock market. Nobody likes losing money. I've been there and done that. Perhaps that's why I have compassion for the millions of people who are currently losing so much of their financial worth. People are losing their stock portfolios, losing their 401k's, losing their jobs due to the sour economy, and just generally getting spanked by Wall Street. Unfortunately, I can't help the "masses" avoid financial loss. It's just a part of how the game is played. Someone is always going to lose money. However, I CAN help those who are willing to help themselves. And since you're here reading this page, that includes you :-) In other words, someone is always going to lose money, but that "someone" DOESN'T have to be you! And what do I love? I LOVE empowering people to achieve success in their lives. So I guess that this love and hate are what motivated me to create the The Profitology Trading System for you. You will NOT find this system being taught by ANYONE else, and it absolutely has the potential to drastically change your life for the better! However, I'm NOT going to feed you a bunch of "get rich quick" hype, because that's not what the course is about, nor is it my style. Instead, I'm going to get straight to the point and just tell you... What this course is all about What it will do for you What is included And how you'll be able to access it This Has Been 20 YEARS In The Making! First, I want you to know that this program was NOT just conceived in the last few weeks and packaged as a product to sell. This course is the result and culmination of 20 years of thinking, planning, learning and practicing the material that you will receive. The reason why I decided to teach you my methods is revealed in this letter. I'm not going to hide anything. I want to be very clear from the outset... Unlike many people who teach options and growth stocks, I am NOT a former market maker or specialist or a licensed professional in the financial industry. I am a retail investor just like you. The difference is that I found a way to be successful and profitable trading stocks and options as a REAL business from my home office. The business methods I use?are also used?by professional hedge fund managers and market professionals who rarely, if ever, talk about their strategies. So you're probably asking yourself, "Why would he give away these secrets?" To answer that question, I will tell you that there are three reasons why I want to teach you this business... 1) There's no reason not to teach you my secrets. Seriously. I have nothing to lose. The markets are huge and worldwide and anyone can trade them without decreasing the opportunity. In fact it would only make things better. The more traders, the more money we can make and the more liquid the market becomes. It's really a win-win-win. Unlike other businesses - such as the one I have been involved in for the last 9 years (Internet marketing)- this business only gets BETTER as more people?do it. 2) I am a business person but I am also?a teacher. I have been teaching people how to use the Internet to start a business since 1999.?I have taught thousands of people how to make their living online so?teaching is?something I love to do. There are not many people who really understand this business and are willing to teach it to others. 3) Frankly, a little extra money from selling this course means more I can put to good use in my?trading business. Obviously I put my money where I get the largest return for the amount invested.?Most of the?money I make from selling this course goes directly into my trading business. I don't know what your abilities are or how fast you can learn this business as I teach it, so I will never tell you how much you could make but 5% (or much more) per month is a very reachable goal. Returns can be as high as 62.5%?(ROM) - that's $1,000 for every $1,600 invested. But let me explain why this course is different from anything you may have seen before... Most people think the markets are too risky and their approach is "Hit or Miss", pure speculation, or worse... GAMBLING! I will tell you right now... my trading system is NOT gambling! Bottom line: I treat trading as a real business. In fact, I don't even consider myself to be an 'investor' or 'speculator' or 'trader' in the traditional sense. The truth is, and this is exactly how I see myself: I am an entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur I seek opportunities in the market as well as?engage in buying and selling activities to generate the highest return on my investment and then simply manage my risk. My product is options and growth stocks. I buy and sell them to make money. All businesses buy and sell to make money - I just do it with stocks and options. All good businesses manage based on numbers and ratios - I do the same thing - I manage by the numbers! All businesses plan for profits and?create opportunities?for the largest return on investment (ROI) possible - I do too, except I?create opportunities?for the largest return on margin (ROM). I know exactly what my maximum profits are going to be before I place a trade. I don't guess or speculate - I have a plan. Then I simply manage the position and, if necessary, adjust my positions to remain profitable?or cut my losses through smart risk management technics and collect my profits at the end of the trading cycle (monthly). This is an "Evergreen Business". Even as the markets shift, and the economy changes... this system will always work! This business will never change...?the principles, once you learn them, are yours forever. You could learn these and hand them down to your children and grandchildren. The basics of this business will never change because the underlying the principles will never change. That's why I call?it an 'evergreen' business. Unlike franchises or other types of consumer or business-to-business markets, the stock and option markets?have been around for hundreds of years. And even though the markets move and change in some ways, the principles have been the same for the past 200+ years. How did I discover how to start a stock?and option business? One day I woke up one day to find a little extra cash sitting in a money market earning 1.5% a year. The next year it was earning 3%... wow - 3% a year. I felt my money should be put to better and more productive use and I started looking into all kinds of franchise opportunities and other businesses to invest in... but they all had one drawback - the financial investment was large but so was the investment of time... something I really didn't have as a father of four. So after years of 'hit or miss' trading I started thinking about?trading as a real business about 2 1/2 years ago?- buying and selling?stocks and options as?a 'business'. I didn't know if it could be done, but the idea intrigued me. I knew somebody, somewhere was making a killing in the markets and I was determined to find them, learn everything they know and make a killing of my own. I was determined to run my?trading as a business, not as a gambler, and that meant looking at opportunities,?supply and demand, marketplace dynamics and managing my business based on solid business fundamentals: profit, loss, expenses, overhead and return on investment. Like any business my only concern was to buy something that I could sell at a profit - and with enough of a profit margin so that my expenses (although small) were covered leaving me with a consistent and reliable income. The business of trading has all of these advantages. Once you know the system, this business can be managed in 15 minutes a day. It has all the makings of the 'perfect' business! The problem with creating a business based on the markets is that it seems like they are consistently changing and there is a lot of risk! As you know, the markets go up one day and down the next! I was really confused which way the market would turn, and since I hated the idea of losing money I tried to "predict" the market's direction because that's how I THOUGHT money was made. I got really, really good at 'technical analysis'... I THOUGHT that it held the key to profits... if I could tell where the market was headed it would be easy to make money, right? I learned all about waves and candle sticks, MACD, ADX, CCI, Bollinger Bands and Fibonacci and hundreds of chart 'patterns'... and I thought I 'knew' something' about the future of the market! Frankly, technical indicators are like crutches - they only help to support and validate your trading ideas already formed in your mind. They do not help you become a better trader or see the reality of the market. There are only 3 technical indicators you need to run this business: support, resistance and trend lines. That's' it. We keep it simple. Simple makes me money. I also discovered the TOP 1% of all traders do the EXACT opposite of what I tried to do when I first got started (predict the market)... The fact is... Top traders NEVER try to predict the market they only manage risk. Most of the elite traders don't care if the market goes up or down - they make money either way. They use charts sparingly. All top traders do is manage?their risk?and take advantage of the only truths of the market - the ONLY absolute truths of the market. For stocks that ONE Absolute Truth is this: 1) All stocks fluctuate in price. For options there are two Absolute Truths: 1) All options fluctuate in price and 2) All options expire. The top traders learn to respect these rules because they are the ONLY truths of the market. You might think there are other truths but there aren't-- Everything you hear about the market outside these 2 rules is hearsay, opinion, commentary and even complete fantasy. Of course you will never hear anyone on CNBC even mention these 2 rules because they would have nothing to report! Can you imagine Maria Bartiromo saying, "Prices fluctuated today. Have a nice evening everyone! I'm outta here!" I don't think so! So the top traders respect these rules because they are so powerful and it helps them cut through the 'market noise'. Then they design their trading business around these rules to TAKE ADVANTAGE of them. Once they see an opportunity they jump on it and simply manage?their business?'by the numbers' and, for me it takes 15 minutes - sometimes less - a day. How much can you make? Frankly, it depends on your capital, ability to learn, and your ability to maintain your discipline in this business. Don't be concerned about how much you have to start your investment business (even though I had a considerable amount of money I could invest, I started mine with a small amount so I could learn this business). Just learn the skills and reinvest your profits - they will grow quickly. Have you lost your CONFIDENCE? If you've lost money in the market it can destroy your confidence. My system will allow you to trade with 100% confidence again because instead of hoping to make a profit by guessing what to do, you'll have a plan. Remember what I said at the top of this letter... this is not about hype. I will never guarantee you will make money with this business because I can't tell how you'll use the information that I'm going share with you. Your success in your investment business depends on only one thing: The decisions YOU make. The only way for you to make the right decisions is by having superior knowledge. Once you understand how to REALLY make money, you will trade with total confidence. That's what I can do for you and I do not say it lightly, it's true. Also, I cannot give you official investment advice because I am not an investment adviser registered with the SEC and I am not a CFP (certified financial planner), so if you watch the videos and you see me trading a certain ETF or stock please do not interpret it as a recommendation. I can show you exactly what I do, and how I do it. I'll teach you virtually everything I know about this business; but the actual decisions you make with your money is up to only one person: You. I can tell you with a high degree of certainty though - There is no one who will tell you what I will share with you. No one. You could pay $5,000 or more to attend the top trading seminars, and you still won't learn what I'm going to teach you! I went to a $5,000 'high level', 'super advanced' seminar last year put on by a 25 year veteran - a former floor trader and market maker in options on the CBOE. I went to another 2 years ago that costs $3,000 and I got one tip from it - how to tell if a stock is in a "channel"... no kidding, that was it! 3,000 dollars! What I'm going to teach you will blow away anything that I learned in any of these seminars. I'm not kidding. In fact, I'd say, in truth, they were almost a waste of my money. I say 'almost' because they did help a little but?they lacked practical application of the knowledge they presented - it was mostly theory that left the attendee no better off, in practical terms, than they were when they started. This?course is?the real deal... It really works and very few people (even?professionals)?teach anyone how to do this. I know this for a fact because I've talked to some of the pros, and either they don't know this system, or else they are not willing to admit it. But there are a few guys who really know this stuff inside and out (one guy is sort of teaching this and the others are not teaching it at all). I found them and picked their brain over and over until I figured it out and came up with a system based on what they told me. Most of them didn't even know how to explain what they do-- it's like instinct to them and they couldn't express what they did in a step-by-step coherent way, so I really had pull it out of them. Then I put together what I learned, and came up with a complete business system that anyone can follow. I'll just say that I think it will surprise you how profitable and easy it is to run - and just 15 minutes a day is all you need. On the other hand, if you want to make this a full-time business - you can! There are plenty of opportunities to make even more money if you have more time to devote to this business. So let's see if you're the right kind of person to take this course: Have you been in the market as an investor and been disappointed with the results? Do you stay away from the markets because you think they are too risky? Are you confused by technical and fundamental analysis? Would you like to stop GUESSING which direction the markets are going, and take the professional approach to trading as a business? Does the idea of managing your business 'by the numbers' make sense to you? Does the idea of trading stocks and options as a real business sound good to you? If you answered 'YES' to any ONE or more of the questions above, I think you would be a good candidate for this training. Here's what you'll be getting in the course... There are a total of 41 videos within the course. The videos are grouped into several "Modules", with each Module containing 'hands-on' videos walking you through the topics covered. We use videos because you can SEE exactly what to do as you learn, and you can watch them over and over again (if necessary) to review and build your understanding. You can watch these videos directly on your computer...?we will give you a username and password to access them anytime of the day or night - whenever it's convenient for your schedule. In addition, you will have permanent access to these videos and you will also receive any new ones we add at a later date! The Modules in the course include: 1. INTRODUCTION TO TRADING AS A BUSINESS?& TRADING WITH CONFIDENCE This Module is designed to introduce you to a new way to trade stocks and options?- as a business. Emphasis is on risk management and building a portfolio of trades that can be managed 'by the numbers'. Learning the craft, acquiring the skills required to be successful in this business. This Module contains over 4 hours of great teaching! 2. THE GREEKS - MANAGING BY THE NUMBERS The 'greeks' play a critical role in your trading business. I totally de-mystify them and tell you exactly what the greeks are and, in practical, easy to understand language demonstrate how they impact your business. The greeks are the numbers you need to understand to manage your portfolio profitably. Special report included! I'm also including the most comprehensive, yet easy to read 5 page CONFIDENTIAL REPORT on how to profit from "The Greeks" available in the world (yes, the world, and no, I'm not kidding). 3. TRADE SELECTION AND STRATEGY We've set the stage, now it's time to get on with the work at hand. This is where things get good and interesting. What positions do we take? How do we determine when and how? Do 'charts' matter? What is the big picture behind what we're doing? This Module goes in depth with FIVE videos covering EEM, ADSK, DIA, SPY, and IWM (Don't worry, you'll understand it all later!) 4. PORTFOLIO BUILDING Build a portfolio by putting on positions that work together. This is where many traders go wrong - they put on individual positions and do not understand how they affect your overall portfolio. You'll discover why diversification in time frames, prices and strategies is a key to making money. This is simply fundamental to being a good investor. 5. THE TOOLS OF THE TRADE ThinkorSwim (TOS), in my opinion is the best broker and has the best trading platform available. If you had to pay separately for the kind of analysis tools they give you as an account holder it would cost you many hundreds of dollars a month in fees - with TOS they're free. I take you inside the TOS platform and help you access the power you have at your finger tips. (There are other programs/software that you can use to analyze your trades, but TOS is also free when you open an account.) 6. PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT BY THE GREEKS, ADJUSTMENTS, VIX and More... Now that we have built our portfolio, how do we manage it by the numbers? We learned the greeks, so now it's time to put them into action. The key to success is knowing how to look at the numbers and know, without a doubt, what they mean and what to do with them if anything. This module includes 5 killer videos with real life examples as I manage a portfolio. 7. THE ART OF ADJUSTMENTS - THE SECRET KEY What happens when our numbers don't look good? This is where 99% of all traders get killed in the market... they have no clue what to do when a position goes against them and they lose money. It's too bad because most trades can be saved to make a profit! Imagine making one small change to your position and increasing your odds of making a profit by 80%! That's what adjusting can do for you! In Trading As A Business, we KNOW what to do. We trade with confidence. We know and understand that when a trade goes against us it's an OPPORTUNITY to add to our portfolio by adjusting. I call it Smart Allocation of Capital. The art of adjustments is the missing link in trading options and stocks that almost no one teaches. 8. CLOSING POSITIONS How and when to close positions, and how to close them for maximum profits. The risks of holding positions into expiration week. When and how to 'buy' short-term insurance to protect your profits and increase your wealth in expiration week. How to close positions and get free trades left over that, although small, have a chance of DOUBLING our profits. This module contains 5 videos, and the key theme here is MAXIMIZING our profits! 9. THE BIG PICTURE - TECHNICAL ANALYSIS What kinds of technical analysis help us in our business? There are only a few key analysis tools that can help you determine the probabilities of market direction and I tell you exactly what those are. I'll give you insights into why the market moves the way it does. I'll also give you a historical perspective on market movements going back to 1900 and give you a realistic plan of attack for determining future market direction based on factual evidence. In the 2nd video, I dive into short-term indicators that can sharpen your edge in the markets to better time your trades. Then I tell you about an indicator I stumbled on, that predicts short-term and opening market direction with an amazing degree of accuracy close to 95% of the time as well as how to determine intra-day movements and how to tell whether money is flowing into or out of stocks and what it means for intra-day price trends. This module contains well over 3 hours of solid teaching. 10. ADVANCED TECHNIQUES AND EXPLOSIVE WEALTH BUILDING STRATEGIES Not even one of these strategies requires any knowledge of 'technical analysis' - it can help, but it's not required. These make money whether the market goes up or down. These are strategies you can manage based on 'the numbers'. One important thing I should mention: There are ways to make money that are NOT obvious. For example, Strategy #1 is something I have been studying for years, and it works every time and cannot fail to work. ? 11. Explosive Strategy #1 Using this one method I turned a $14,000 trade into a $75,000 profit in just 8 months. The most money at risk? Just $650. That was the total amount that was at risk when this position was initiated and NO more money was ever put into the position. Amazing profit/loss ratio. And it doesn't matter if the stock goes up or down but does require an longer time frame- 6 to 8 months. It is not uncommon for these trades to create the profits you can brag about. Want to make a killing in the market? It doesn't get any better than this. 12. Explosive Strategy #2 Another method I call "Flipping Stocks" let's me buy stocks cheaper than anyone else and if the market does not cooperate with my plan - I get paid lots of money for waiting until it does! This is for bigger players with more capital... but when you have $15k or more to put to work, these longer term trades generate explosive profits. I teach it to you in a nice 52 minute video 13. Explosive Strategy #3 This new strategy that has unlimited upside or downside potential and only $50 or so of risk! This strategy is extremely powerful and one of the biggest real 'secrets' that no one has ever discussed that I know of. Wait till you see the power of this strategy. You can make $1000's with a total risk of $50 or so. It's extremely powerful. Think there's no free-lunch on Wall Street? This isn't one either but it's as close as it gets to one! This is the perfect strategy for playing earnings reports, takeover news stocks and any stock you think will move big in any direction with little risk. 14. Explosive Strategy #4 If you want to be more active in stocks but hate the risk, you'll love this. Day trade without the risk normally associated with day trading. Can be setup to be an 'semi-automated' trading system. Very powerful and again another low risk, high earning strategy for more active participants. This strategy includes 9 videos, and I take you through some real life trades over the course of 7 days and show you exactly how I make thousands of dollars with these trades. I've also included 3 worksheets (Excel spreadsheets) for your convenience! 15. Explosive Strategy #5 If you liked the idea of the monthly income trades but were wondering how to 'turbo charge' them to make a fortune, then you will love THIS. Instead of $1000-$2000 a month you could start generating an income in the $5,000 to $40,000 a month range after learning this and with a lot less stress while trading as 'big' as you want. This last strategy is the 'icing' on the cake... the peak moment in all your hard study and will be worth 100 times what you paid for this course - maybe even more. Why didn't I reveal this until the very end of the course? Simple: You would not be able to use this strategy without a good foundation that was laid out in the earlier Modules. Everything we have learned thus far has been leading up to these explosive strategies. This Course Contains Over 40 Videos... Totaling Over 24 HOURS Of Me Teaching! The videos and modules are very well organized in an easy-to-navigate membership area, and they are sequenced in a perfectly logical order so that you can learn the system one step at a time. As I mentioned previously, you will not find this material anywhere else. The course will be delivered to you 100% online. I'M INCLUDING TWO FORMATS FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE: 1) Online Streaming. You can stream the videos directly in your browser (Flash videos, which are compatible with virtually all browsers), so you don't have to download anything if you don't want to. 2) Downloadable. You can also download the full resolution videos? directly to your computer. This allows us to provide you with the highest quality and clearest videos for you to watch. You may make one copy of these videos on a storage device (CD, DVD or external drive) but may not allow anyone else to view, copy or share them. They are for your use only. (with the exception of your spouse)?. So... what's the price? I've made this incredibly affordable so you can learn it without any serious financial stress. As I mentioned I have been to seminars for $3,000 and $5,000 and you will get much more from this course than both of those combined. I've also seen one trading course that charges $7,500 just for online access to learn the basics of options! So right there, you can see that the VALUE of this course is easily in the thousands. But I'm not done adding value yet :-) If you join today, you'll also receive these FOUR fast action bonuses... Email us at: support@tornadotradingsystem.com P.S.-? You could attempt to learn this by trial and error on your own, but I assure you it will be a MUCH more costly "education" than the one I'm offering you today for a very reasonable price. Filmmaker decides to make movie without item song; faces risk of ...

Mixed reactions after director's announcement

A popular Bollywood director has apparently taken up the daring job of working on a commercial ?masala? movie that will surprisingly have (wait for it) not a single item song.

He confirmed this yesterday: ?Though this film?s purpose will be to entertain, it will have a coherent and intelligible plotline, and will employ no item songs. We are being really careful about how to build up the action, because now the viewer has learned to gauge and predict exactly when an item song will make an appearance. We must not lead them on, but at the same time maintain their interest.?

Apparently, this move was inspired by the idea that item songs may actually be demeaning towards women. Without an item song, the movie will require a detailed and logical script?something that hasn?t been ventured into before.

?It will be difficult,? continued the filmmaker, ?because we will have to actually frame and detail a plot. Our audiences are not really used to this kind of thought-provoking progression in films. Logical twists and turns might befuddle them. So we have to be really careful about how we go about it.?

This rather strange decision has led to mixed reactions from society at large:

Moviegoers and theatres: One would imagine that viewers would be displeased about this decision, but even if they are, they didn?t let on. A 20-year-old engineering student was more concerned for the filmmaker himself: ?We?re at a stage in moviemaking where even serious genres like crime utilize item songs. How will this movie be able to survive if it markets itself as entertainment but then shows no item songs?? It was just a coincidence that this engineering student was male.

item songs 250x208 photo Filmmaker decides to make movie without item song; faces risk of writing a logical script

Would the film survive without an item song?

Single screen theatres are apprehensive. The owner of a theatre said, ?Movies must have something tasteful for viewers to work at the box office. We are doing very well nowadays, since most movies either have inane action or?the other side of the spectrum?item songs. Let?s hope that this movie has senseless action scenes or at least some slapstick comedic lines.?

Moviemakers: A fellow filmmaker who is commonly referred to as the ?baap of entertainment?, responded thus: ?Item songs are nowadays used to build up the buzz around a movie, often being used in chunks in the trailers, where you get to see stray glimpses of the songs. It contributes a great deal to garnering viewers? interest. Not having an item song at all will act as a buzzkill for those expecting a full-on entertainment movie.?

Policemen: A policeman we spotted coming out of a movie theatre, with uniform and all, insisted on us listening to his side of the story: ?In a way, item songs are safer than other intimate scenes! Our Hindi movies are going the wrong way now by showing intimacy. It encourages couples to get frisky in real life?often publicly?and then people blame us for ?moral policing?! We are also forced to conduct raids at nightclubs and such because of this, but it is again brushed off, since moral policing is viewed wrong in the eyes of our modern society.?

The Pope: Surprisingly, the Pope, who still has people contemplating the real reason for his resignation, has also heard of this news. He had this to say: ?I?m slightly familiar with item songs, and I think I can say that they are shot and scripted in such a manner that one can forget his own morals. I welcome this move and encourage the whole of Bollywood to follow suit.?

Our lawmakers: Our politicians spouted some gems as usual. One of them burst out, ?Lack of item songs will only lead to an increase in the viewership of pornographic material?something that is against Indian tradition and morals. I hope these filmmakers come to their senses and rethink their decision.?

There was a counter-view to this, as another observation went thus: ?Who can blame all the crime in our country when we have such songs themselves depicting loose morals and instigating more unsavoury behaviour? It is like leaving your treasure chest open but still expecting no one will steal! Who?s the real culprit? I?m glad this movie is happening.?

Another politician we caught admitted he was too busy, and had heard only snippets of this news. But he did display his pithy wit: ?Let them chopper?no, chop; let them chop out these songs. They are just harbouring a misogynistic mindset.?

Critics: Meanwhile, some film critics are wondering if the brains behind the movie will think of another method to put in what they call ?soft porn?. ?Item songs are increasingly becoming a medium for soft porn, encouraging viewers to become voyeurs. This is what rakes in so many eyeballs. With the absence of such songs, we can?t help thinking whether they?ve developed some other method to relay the same? stuff. Remember Piranha 3D??

Smoking cessation in old age: Less heart attacks and strokes within five years

Feb. 20, 2013 ? Professor Hermann Brenner and colleagues analyzed the data of 8.807 individuals aged between 50 and 74 years using data of Saarland citizens. "We were able to show that the risk of smokers for cardiovascular diseases is more than twice that of non-smokers. However, former smokers are affected at almost the same low rate as people of the same age who never smoked," says Brenner. "Moreover, smokers are affected at a significantly younger age than individuals who have never smoked or have stopped smoking."

For example, a 60-year-old smoker has the same risk of myocardial infarction as a 79-year-old non-smoker and the same risk of stroke as a 69-year-old non-smoker. Dose and duration of tobacco consumption also have an impact on disease risk. The more cigarettes a smoker consumes per day over a prolonged period of time, the higher his or her risk raises.

The study shows that the positive effect of smoking cessation becomes noticeable within a short period of time. "Compared to individuals who continue smoking, the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke is reduced by more than 40 percent already within the first five years after the last cigarette," says Carolin Gellert, first author of the study. The results suggest that smoking cessation programs, which have concentrated on younger participants up to now, should be expanded to reach out to older people as well.

Last year, Hermann Brenner and his colleagues had already studied the impact of smoking on the overall mortality of people beyond the age of 60. They had used data from international studies without German participation. In their latest study, they have evaluated data from the so-called ESTHER Study whose participants are from Saarland, a state of Germany. They included those individuals who had not suffered a heart attack or stroke prior to study start and whose health status had been surveyed for up to ten years afterwards. In their evaluation, the scientists also took account of the effects of other factors such as age, gender, alcohol consumption, education and physical exercise as well as blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol levels, body height and weight.

New analysis of Genesis reveals 'death sandwich' literary theme

Feb. 20, 2013 ? An online tool has, for the first time, revealed a common literary technique in the Book of Genesis that has remained hidden in the text for millennia.

Researchers at Keele University, UK, and Amridge University, USA, have discovered that Genesis uses an early example of a technique known as 'bracketing', which sandwiches one theme between two mentions of another theme. The technique is commonly used today, such as when bad news is sandwiched between two bits of good news. The new analysis of Genesis reveals a striking pattern between the two key themes of 'life' and 'death'. The opening and closing verses of the book contain frequent mentions of life, whereas mentions of death are only found in clusters in the middle.

Informally dubbed by researchers the 'Genesis Death Sandwich', this pattern offers the first clear example of this common rhetorical structure being used in the text describing the creation of the universe. The discovery was made thanks to a new tool for analysing texts developed by Dr Gordon Rugg, senior lecturer in Computing and Mathematics at Keele University. The text-analysis tool, called Search Visualizer, represents entire texts as a grid with each square representing a word and coloured squares representing search keywords. When used to examine the words 'life' and 'death' in the King James Version of Genesis, the new pattern emerged.

Dr Rugg explains: "This is a significant discovery for historians and theologians interested in the Old Testament, and shows that whoever wrote the version of the text that been passed down to us was clearly employing this rhetorical structure. Whether this was done consciously or subconsciously will probably remain a mystery, although possible reasons for the pattern might be to soften the negative messages of death, or perhaps to juxtapose life and death for greater impact.

"Our new method for visualising texts means an entire book can be represented on a single page of A4, allowing you to see patterns very easily. It offers a quick and simple way for researchers to identify patterns, or see which of their ideas might be red herrings, which is an important insight for researchers dealing with large texts."

Dr Gordon Rugg from Keele University and Dr David Musgrave from Amridge University, USA, have also used Search Visualizer to explore other significant texts including the Iliad. They have uncovered a pattern in the text that provides new evidence supporting a theory that one section, 'The Catalogue of Ships', is in fact an older poem incorporated into Homer's epic story.

As well as exploring patterns in historical texts and literature, the new tool has a wide range of other potential applications. One such use is re-examining cold-case police investigations by analysing old witness statements to identify correlating stories. Using Search Visualizer, patterns can be seen that might have been very difficult to identify by reading through large numbers of documents manually. The software can also be used as a new way of searching the web.

The search tool is available at www.searchvisualizer.com.

George P. Bush to speak at NM GOP event

Posted at: 02/17/2013 1:16 PM
By: The Associated Press

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The nephew of former President George W. Bush is scheduled to address Republican Party activists in New Mexico.

Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman John Billingsley announced that George P. Bush will be the keynote speaker at RPNM's annual Lincoln Day Dinner on March 23.

The younger Bush is the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and wife, Columba, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Mexico.

Bush told Texas Republicans last week that conservative Republicans could compete for Latino voters by emphasizing energy production and education and still remaining true to their core values.

He recently announced that he planned to run for statewide office in Texas in 2014.

Sony?s Next-gen PlayStation Could Stream PS3 Games According To Report

Sonys Next gen PlayStation Could Stream PS3 Games According To ReportRumors of Sony?s next-gen PlayStation 4 have certainly been gaining some traction, and according to a report from The Wall Street Journal, it seems that it is possible that we can expect the PlayStation 4 to be able to stream PlayStation 3 games, as well as play new PlayStation 4 games via optical disk. ?The new technology, to be unveiled Wednesday along with the new console, will allow users to play games delivered over the Internet, these people said. The streaming service, they added, is designed to use current PlayStation 3 titles on the new console; the new device is also expected to play new games stored on optical discs.?

This notion isn?t completely ludicrous because if you recall, back in 2012 Sony acquired online gaming company Gaikai, so for them leverage Gaikai?s services for its upcoming PlayStation 4 would not be a stretch of the imagination. That along with a recent rumor suggesting that the next-gen PlayStation will be focusing more on its playing options rather than merely hardware would certainly support this latest report. We?re not 100% sure how Sony plans to implement this, but it is definitely worth taking note at least for now. Sony will be holding an event on the 20th of February, so be sure to check back with us then for the details.

This undated screenshot provided by Taco Bell shows the Super Bowl advertisement for Taco Bell. Gone are the days when Super Bowl spots were closely-guarded secrets. With the growth of social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, it's no surprise that more advertisers like Taco Bell are releasing ads online up to a week or more before Game Day. (AP Photo/Taco Bell)

(AP) ? Sex sells. Babies sell even more. And advertisers are hoping animals will make you laugh all the way to their stores.

While the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens battle on the field during Super Bowl XLVII, marketers from Best Buy to M&M to Toyota are competing against each other on advertising's biggest stage. And they're doing so by pulling out the most persuasive tools of their trade.

The stakes are high, with 30-second spots going for as much as $4 million this year. And more than 111 million viewers are expected to tune in.

Here are some ad highlights through the third quarter:

BABIES, ANIMALS AND FAMILIES OH MY

? Hyundai's "Epic Playdate" spot right before kickoff showed a family partying with the band The Flaming Lips: wreaking havoc at a natural history museum, getting chased by bikers, going to a petting zoo and playing in a park.

"Make every day epic with the new seven-passenger Santa Fe," a voiceover states.

When the family gets back home and the daughter asks, "What are we going to do now?" The father replies, "Well, I think there's a game on," and the broadcast went straight to the kickoff.

? Audi's 60-second ad in the first quarter, with an ending voted on by viewers, shows a boy gaining confidence from driving his father's Audi to the prom, kissing the prom queen and getting decked by the prom king.

? Toyota's ad stars Kaley Cuoco from CBS's "The Big Bang Theory" granting wishes to a family, from a boy wanting to go into space to a dad wanting to lose his "spare tire."

? Budweiser's Clydedales made another appearance in an ad that shows a man and his horse reuniting after several years.

HUMOR IS KEY

? Best Buy's 30-second ad in the first quarter starred Amy Poehler, of NBC's "Parks and Recreation," asking a Best Buy employee endless questions about electronics.

"Will this one read "50 shades of Grey to me in a sexy voice," Poehler asks about an e-book reader. When the staffer says no she asks, "Will you?"

? M&M's showed its red spokescharacter singing Meatloaf's "I Would Do Anything For Love," and wooing beautiful women, but stopping short when they try to eat him.

? Oreo's ad featured a showdown in a library between people fighting over whether the cookie or the cream is the best part of the cookie. The joke ? the fight escalates into thrown chairs and other destruction, but because the fight is in a library, everyone still has to whisper.

? Doritos went for humor with its two user-created spots. Winners of the "Crash the Super Bowl" contest included one about a Doritos-crazy goat. Another showed a dad playing princess with his daughter to get Doritos. His buddies catch him, but instead of making fun of him they join in the fun.

"Is that my wedding dress?" says his wife when she sees them playing.

? Budweiser showed rival 49ers and Ravens fans each creating a voodoo doll for the other team with the help of a mysterious figure in a bar. "It's only weird if it doesn't work," reads the copy.

? Taco Bell showed a group of seniors partying, getting tattoos, and eating its Doritos Locos Tacos

CELEBS ABOUND

? R&B legend Stevie Wonder and actress Zoe Saldana appeared in a Voodoo ad for Bud Light, granting people's wishes

? Subway uses celebs, including Olympic speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno, boxer Laila Ali and Blake Griffin of the L.A. Clippers, trying to say "Febru-any

? The Milk Processor Education Program, known as MilkPep and popular for its "Got Milk?" print ads, featured actor and professional wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in a 30-second ad in which he battles all kinds of oddities on his way to get milk.

? Chrysler made a splash with a two-minute spot during halftime showing families waiting for their family members to return home from serving with the armed forces abroad. Media mogul and TV personality Oprah Winfrey read a letter from the Jeep brand to encourage families to stay hopeful.

?Tracy Morgan of "30 Rock," appeared in ad for Kraft's Mio Fit water enhancing drops

SEX STILL SELLS

? Calvin Klein upped the sex appeal with a 30-second spot showing male model Matthew Terry strutting around in underwear.

? Godaddy.com's spot toed the line of good taste, showing a close up extended kiss between supermodel Bar Refaeli and a nerdy nobody to illustrate Godaddy's combo of "sexy" and "smart."

? Budweiser introduced its new Black Crown Lager with two sleek spots that showed sexy twentysomethings drinking the high-alcohol beer at a chic urban party.

Tales from Elsewhere

I'm currently looking for another two people to fill in spots for my roleplay: Tales from Elsewhere. The roleplay follows the story of three teenagers who are whisked away into another world. They set off in search of a way home with a group that also consists of a squire who abandoned his training, a foreign princess, her bodyguard, a witch who was chased from her homeland and a cutpurse who lived on the streets. They travel across the continent of Taakeira which is filled with many varying cultures, landscapes and people. Interested? Keep reading, then.

Introduction

It's not uncommon to have your grandparents leave you peculiar objects in their will, but never has anyone received such a life changing as the story of the young man we are about to follow. After his grandfather passed away he was left a diary detailing a search for an ancient treasure hidden somewhere within North America. However, many parts of the diary were encoded into riddles and seemingly meaningless drawings. Unable to solve much of it himself, he enlisted the help of two of his close friends. The three came to the conclusion that the treasure they were looking for was a priceless gemstone hidden within a tomb in the Rocky Mountains.

The trio found the tomb after following all the cryptic instructions provided by the diary and managed to get inside. It wasn't much of a tomb; more of a stylized cave. In the centre stood a pedestal, and atop that pedestal lay a beautiful, gleaming, ebony gemstone. The boy leading the expedition was drawn towards it like a moth towards a flame and pressed his hand to it as soon as he was close enough. He knew nothing of what he was doing until it was too late, a wave of purple light enveloped the tomb, transporting everyone inside to another world; a world known as Taakeira.

Upon arriving in Taakeira, the trio soon heard of an old legend regarding an archipelago far away from Taakeira known as the "Holy Islands". The Holy Islands were supposedly hidden from mortals by the gods, so only the worthy could find them. The Holy Islands house vast wealth, and anyone who can find them will be granted an audience with the gods. The Trio became certain that this was their way home, and so set off in search of them.

The World of Taakeira

Strictly speaking, Taakeira is just the continent of the world it's on, but it's the only continent, and so the whole world is often referred to as Taakeira. Taakeira is almost like Pangaea, but its shape is far different and it has various little islands dotted around the mainland. The mainland consists of five large, almost circular masses (known fittingly as circles) that would be separate islands were it not for the thin land bridges that all connect the centre of Taakeira on a peninsula known as the "Dragon's Pass". It is so named because it is home to the great dragon Klatzo, a sentinel of the gods who exists to prevent war amongst the different circles. His five children (Degetbura, Kaatanmura, Thorak, Alsar and Hclia) each guard one of the land bridges. His mate, Niria, guards the seas. The dragons are fairly lenient, and let most ordinary travellers through without any trouble. Each land bridge is named after it's respective dragon.

The first circle lies in the northwest and houses the countries Akhar and Bhaeldron. The second circle lies in the north and houses Ik'Ra. The third circle lies in northeast and houses Gar and Yesterhold. The fourth circle lies in the southeast and houses Dhara. The fifth circle lies in the southwest and houses Ghaliar and Irvar. The island country of Thania is situated west of the Dragon's Pass.

(AP) ? Around the Super Bowl and its host city with journalists from The Associated Press bringing the flavor and details of everything surrounding the game:

___

RAVENS WIN

This was the APNewsAlert sent seconds after the final play:

The Baltimore Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 in the Super Bowl.

___

49ERS COME UP SHORT ON DRIVE

San Francisco came up just short on that last drive and, maybe, the game, too.

The Baltimore Ravens defense made the stand of the game, blitzing Colin Kaepernick and forcing him to throw a bad pass on fourth-and-goal at the 5. His previous two passes were incompletes, too.

The turnover on downs brought a screeching halt to what had been an unbelievable comeback by the 49ers, who scored 23 points in 12 minutes and 20 seconds after the Superdome power outage.

It was a bit of karmic payback for the 49ers, who reached the Super Bowl after stopping Atlanta on fourth down at their own 10 two weeks ago.

? Nancy Armour ? http://www.twitter.com/nrarmour

___

2-MINUTE WARNING

Two minutes left in regulation at the Super Bowl, and it's unlikely they'll go to overtime.

Baltimore leads San Francisco 34-29 but San Francisco has the ball, second and goal on the Ravens 5-yard line.

___

RAVENS SCORE, NEED 'D' TO HOLD TIGHT

OK, Ravens defense, it's up to you now.

Justin Tucker's 38-yard field goal extended Baltimore's lead to 34-29. But there's still 4:19 left to play, and San Francisco has been averaging almost two points a minute since that wacky power outage interrupted the game.

Seems like it would be a good time for Ray Lewis to make a play. He's been awfully quiet in his final NFL game.

? Nancy Armour ? http://www.twitter.com/nrarmour

___

UTILITY BLAMES OUTAGE ON STADIUM

A spokesman for the utility that provides power to the Superdome says the outage began because equipment maintained by stadium staff failed.

Philip Allison, a spokesman for Entergy New Orleans, says power was flowing into the stadium before the lights failed.

"All of our distribution and transmission feeds going into the Superdome were operating as expected," Allison said.

Several banks of arena lights went out and the CBS broadcast audio went silent as power went out in the telecasters' booth.

Auxiliary power kept the playing field from going totally dark, but escalators stopped working and the concourses were only illuminated by small banks of lights tied in to emergency service.

? Paul Newberry ? http://twitter.com/pnewberry1963

___

TIGHTENING UP

Yeah, that San Francisco touchdown was worthy of a "Kaepernicking."

Colin Kaepernick cut Baltimore's lead to 31-29 on a 15-yard scoring run. After he crossed the goal line, Kaepernick let out a roar and kissed his right biceps ? the move that now known as "Kaepernicking."

The 49ers went for two, but Kaepernick's pass fell incomplete.

San Francisco has now racked up 23 points in 12 minutes and 20 seconds, a rate of almost two points a minute. Talk about a power surge.

? Nancy Armour ? http://www.twitter.com/nrarmour

___

RAVENS SCORE, BUT NOT AS MUCH AS THEY WANTED

Even Baltimore's scores are going San Francisco's way.

The Niners came up with two huge stops after the Ravens got to the San Francisco 1, forcing Baltimore to settle for Justin Tucker's 19-yard field goal. Justin Smith stuffed Ray Rice for no gain, and Joe Flacco threw an incompletion on third down.

Baltimore still leads 31-23.

? Nancy Armour ? http://www.twitter.com/nrarmour

___

ADS OVER FOOTBALL?

Even for a moment, is it possible Americans care more about commercials than football at the Super Bowl?

At the start of the fourth quarter, eight of nine unsponsored trending topics in the United States on Twitter have something to do with an ad ? not football or a power outage. The other isn't about football either, it's (hash)WhileWatchingTheGame, with people talking about doing other things.

? Oskar Garcia ? http://twitter.com/oskargarcia

___

A BALLGAME AGAIN

Let the conspiracy theories begin!

After failing to score a touchdown in the first half and looking downright dismal offensively, the San Francisco 49ers have been unstoppable since the lights in the Superdome came back on and are now down by just five points. For those scoring at home, that's 17 points in four minutes, 10 seconds.

Still think that fake field goal on fourth-and-9 was a good idea, John Harbaugh?

After Colin Kaepernick's 14-yard pass to Vernon Davis put the Niners at the Baltimore 6 and Frank Gore ran it on the next play to make it 28-20. Baltimore had the ball for all of two plays when Ray Rice fumbled and San Francisco cornerback Tarell Brown recovered at the Baltimore 24.

The 49ers only managed three yards, and David Akers' 39-yard field goal attempt was wide left. But hold on ? San Francisco's newfound luck continued, with the Ravens getting whistled for running into the kicker. That's a 5-yard penalty, and Akers made this one to cut Baltimore's lead to 28-23.

RALLY TIME?

Hey, the San Francisco 49ers scored a touchdown!

And 49ers fans everywhere collectively say, "Finally!"

Michael Crabtree caught a 31-yard touchdown pass with about 7 ? minutes left in the third quarter to cut Baltimore's lead to 28-13. San Francisco's only other points came on a pair of field goals by David Akers.

Don't get too excited yet, Niners fans. Your team is still down by 15 and no team has ever trailed by more than 10 and come back to win the Super Bowl.

STAT OF THE DAY: 84 MINS REST

This stat of the day comes from CBS, which tracked how long Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco and the Ravens offense were off the field from halftime through a 109-yard kickoff return and a nearly 30-minute power outage.

That total: 84 minutes, about the equivalent of a children's animated film.

When the Ravens did take the field again, they punted without getting a first down.

QUICKQUOTE: JEROME BOGER

The head referee officiating the Super Bowl simply wanted to get the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers back to business.

To get play started, Jerome Boger simply stated: "Let's go."

The clock began rolling and play resumed.

PLAY BALL!

Well, that was interesting.

Following a delay of 35 minutes caused by a power outage in the Superdome, the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers are back out on the field. And no jokes about how the Niners haven't allowed any points in a half-hour.

The Ravens had just scored to take a 28-6 lead when lights throughout the Superdome went dark. There was limited emergency power in the concourses and at the top of the dome, but the scoreboards and most of the lights were out.

The lights gradually began coming back on after about 25 minutes, and a loud buzz could be heard. Players returned to the field and, after 10 more minutes, play resumed with 13:22 left in the third quarter.

1H AD HIGHLIGHTS

Here are some of the funnier highlights of the Super Bowl commercials during the first half:

? Best Buy's 30-second ad in the first quarter starred Amy Poehler, of NBC's "Parks and Recreation," asking a Best Buy employee endless questions about electronics.

"Will this one read '50 shades of Grey' to me in a sexy voice," Poehler asks about an e-book reader. When the staffer says no she asks, "Will you?"

? M&M's showed its red M singing Meatloaf's "I Would Do Anything For Love," and wooing beautiful women, but stopping short when they try to eat him.

? Doritos went for humor with two user-created spots.

ALI WATCHING, DAUGHTER SAYS

One of Muhammad Ali's daughters says the boxer is watching the Super Bowl at his home in Arizona.

May May Ali knocked down rumors of her father being near death on Sunday, telling The Associated Press she spoke with him by phone on Sunday morning.

"He's fine, in fact he was talking well this morning," she said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "These rumors pop up every once in a while but there's nothing to them."

The rumors were started by a report in a British tabloid quoting Ali's brother, Rahman, as saying the former heavyweight champion was near death. Rahman, though, said he hadn't seen his brother since last summer and had no contact with the family.

The report was widely repeated on the Internet. Ali, 71, suffers from Parkinson's disease.

POWER OUTAGE

The power has gone out at the Superdome during the third quarter of the Super Bowl.

Minutes after Baltimore scored on a 109-yard Jacoby Jones kickoff return to take a 28-6 lead, several banks of arena lights went out in the dome. Emergency lights went on but play was immediately halted.

Players are standing on the field but when it became clear it would not be a brief outage, they left the field and went to the sideline.

Several of the Ravens are sitting on the field, stretching to try to keep loose.

Lights are on outside the dome; the outage appears confined to the arena.

BEYONCE BRINGS IT

Beyonce wasn't messing around with her halftime performance.

No immediately obvious malfunctions, no weird cross-genre collaborations with rock stars or one-hit wonders.

Just Beyonce, then Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams to bring back Destiny's Child.

Beyonce sang a medley of hits, including "Crazy In Love," ''Baby Boy" and "Single Ladies." She also danced in front of a screen using multiple images of herself as a backup dancer when she wasn't backed by her all-female band and nearly two dozen dancers.

But when Rowland and Williams sprang up from trap doors onstage, the world got the performance it was anticipating.

Not surprisingly, the show dominated worldwide Twitter trends as the second half began.

DAVID AKERS, 49ERS HERO. WHO KNEW?

Raise your hand if you had David Akers scoring all of San Francisco's points in the first half.

Yeah, didn't think so.

San Francisco's much-maligned kicker made two field goals, accounting for the 49ers' only points in what's shaping up to be a Baltimore rout. The Ravens have a 21-6 lead at halftime, and no team has ever come back to win the Super Bowl after trailing more than 10.

___

GAME OVER, MAYBE NOT, BUT RAVENS SCORE AGAIN

The Baltimore Ravens are making a serious case for just awarding the Lombardi Trophy at halftime.

Joe Flacco threw a 56-yard touchdown pass to Jacoby Jones, who made San Francisco cornerback Chris Culliver look silly once again. This time, though, it wasn't for anything Culliver said.

Jones caught the ball at the 9, and Culliver completely whiffed on the tackle. Safety Dashon Goldson wasn't much better, running right by Jones when he came in to help. Jones then sprinted untouched into the end zone.

It was the 11th touchdown pass this postseason for Joe Flacco, matching an NFL record.

And, just a reminder, no team has ever been down by more than 10 points and come back to win the Super Bowl.

PAST HALFTIME SNAFUS

As Beyonce prepares for her halftime show, many across the country will be looking as much for snafus as for highlights.

Last year, it was British singer M.I.A. giving the finger to 114 million people watching the halftime show. NBC censors were less than a second away from catching it.

And in 2004, Janet Jackson defined Super Bowl performance snafus when her wardrobe malfunction left a nipple exposed briefly to the audience.

___

HEAD SCRATCHING PLAY

What the heck were the Baltimore Ravens thinking on that call?

Lined up for a 31-yard field goal on fourth-and-9, the Ravens went for the fake. Did we mention it was fourth-and-9? Kicker Justin Tucker got eight, and the Ravens turned the ball over on downs.

Had they kicked the field goal, they would have went up by two touchdowns.

Hey, at least they're still up 14-3.

THAT'S NOT WHAT KAEPERNICK WANTED TO DO

This is starting to get ugly for the San Francisco 49ers.

They already trail 14-3, a larger deficit than any team has ever come back from to win the Super Bowl. On the first play after Baltimore's second score, Colin Kaepernick was intercepted. He was looking for Randy Moss but didn't come anywhere close, making for easy pickings by Ed Reed.

It was Reed's ninth career interception in the postseason.

Some pushing and shoving followed, but the refs quickly stepped in to separate the players.

RAVENS GET ASSIST FROM NINERS ON SECOND TD

The Baltimore Ravens got an assist from the San Francisco 49ers on their latest touchdown.

Ed Dickson's 14-yard catch was a huge gain for the Ravens as is, bringing them to the San Francisco 15. But the 49ers got 15 more yards out of the play because Donte Whitner hauled Dickson down by his face mask ? a big no-no.

Two plays later, Flacco found Dennis Pitta for a 1-yard score that gave Baltimore a 14-3 lead. And the second quarter is only half over.

Oh, more bad news for the Niners? No team has ever trailed by more than 10 and come back to win the Super Bowl.

REP: KEYS DIDN'T LIP SYNC

In case you were wondering, a spokeswoman for Alicia Keys says the singer did not lip sync during her national anthem at the Super Bowl.

Whether she would or wouldn't became a public debate after Beyonce admitted lip syncing the song at President Barack Obama's recent inauguration.

Beyonce made up for it by belting out a live version at her Super Bowl press conference earlier this week. She's the game's halftime performer ? and says she'll sing fully live.

GOT TO HOLD ONTO THE FOOTBALL

FUMBLE!!!

The San Francisco 49ers stopped themselves when the Baltimore Ravens couldn't. After advancing to the Baltimore 24 yard line with first downs on three of their previous four plays, the 49ers turned the ball over on a fumble by LaMichael James.

The rookie running back spun away from Ravens safety Bernard Pollard only to be slammed by cornerback Corey Graham and linebacker Courtney Upshaw. The ball popped loose and San Francisco's drive was over.

___

FIELD GOAL FOR NINERS BETTER THAN NOTHING

The San Francisco 49ers settled for a 36-yard field goal, cutting Baltimore's lead to 7-3, after Colin Kaepernick was sacked on third down.

Kaepernick and the Niners picked apart that stingy Baltimore defense on the drive, with Ray Lewis getting beat so badly on several plays it looked as if he'd already retired. A 24-yard catch by Vernon Davis put San Francisco at the Baltimore 8, and Kaepernick went deep to the end zone. But Michael Crabtree couldn't snag the ball, and it looked as if he might have tipped it, too, making it impossible for Randy Moss to grab, either.

Kaepernick was then sacked by Paul Kruger for a 10-yard loss, forcing them to kick the field goal. But David Akers, who has struggled all season, came through.

RAVENS SCORE FIRST

The Baltimore Ravens are on the board first, taking a 7-0 lead on the San Francisco 49ers.

Baltimore caught a break when the 49ers were called for a penalty on third down, extending the Ravens' drive. On the next play, Joe Flacco found Anquan Boldin for a 13-yard touchdown.

Flacco has now thrown nine touchdowns in the postseason and no interceptions.

ANTHEM: PIANO AND KEYS

Alicia Keys' national anthem before the Super Bowl was simple:

Just her in a red gown, singing and playing a white piano on the field.

Keys became a trending topic on Twitter after the anthem.

EMOTIONAL KICKOFF

The Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers have a tough act to follow after an emotional performance by the chorus from Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The chorus, which featured 26 children from the Newtown, Conn., school where 20 first-graders and six adults were killed in a shooting rampage Dec. 14, were joined by Jennifer Hudson for "America the Beautiful" before the start of the Super Bowl. The kids came out first, dressed simply in khakis and white polo shirts, a green ribbon pinned to the right side of their shirts. Several were smiling as the Super Bowl crowd rose to give them a standing ovation. They sang the first chorus, their voices high and sweet with innocence, before Hudson joined them.

Hudson's mother and nephew were shot to death five years ago by her former brother-in-law.

It was a powerful image, and Ravens nose tackle Terrence Cody appeared to be crying as he listened with his head tilted back, his eyes closed. Baltimore coach John Harbaugh stood with his left arm draped over the shoulder of his daughter, Allison.

The children were given another ovation as they left the field.
